     This type of test sequence can be difficult to decipher.  Using the
     ELSEIF modifier simplifies the structure:

          if a = $12
               n = 1
          elseif  foo = w+2
               n = 3
          elseif  bar = a+w
               n = 5
          endif


     Note that the ELSEIF statement requires the same type of comparison
     clause used by the IF statement.
