Help With MicroLoad Installation Problems:
If you experience any problems installing
MicroLoad, here are some things to check:
-
if you are upgrading from a previous
version, use the Add/Remove Programs tool in Windows Control Panel
to remove the old version before installing the new version
-
if this is the first install of MicroLoad
on your system, you may need to get VisualBASIC runtime libraries from
the Microsoft website (if you don't already have them on your system)
-
the MicroLoad zipfile may have
been corrupted when you downloaded it; try downloading it again.
Note: some firewalls will cause zipfile corruption. If you experience
problems, try downloading via a connection not protected by a firewall.
-
some anti-virus software will not permit
system file changes like the installation of the MSCOMM control used by
MicroLoad. Try disabling them during the installation
-
laptop IR communication port may cause
conflict with the application; disabling IR communication in your control
panel may solve the problem
-
conflict with another networking application
running as a service in the background. By pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del once a
list will appear. The Explorer and System Tray are required by Windows
but the rest are what is running in the background on your computer. If
you select one, and you click on End Task the application will be terminated.
By doing this you may be able to find which application is causing the
conflict
-
IBM and HP may be using a modified version
of Windows specifically for their hardware; there is no solution to this
Once you have successfully installed
MicroLoad, pull down the Help menu for additional troubleshooting
hints.
